Junior golfing members (i.e. between the age of 18 and 26) and octogenarian golfing members (i.e. aged 80 and over) pay a reduced rate of subscription based on the above rates. There are other fee arrangements applicable to Country, Non-playing and Social members.
Where members join part way through the calendar year, the first subscription due is calculated on a pro-rata basis for the period to the next 31 December. Subscriptions are then due for payment each year on 1 January.
Subscriptions are payable either:
- in full in advance, or
- where notified to the Club in advance - by monthly direct debit instalments through Fairway Credit, for which service the member incurs an additional 6.5% instalment charge each year.
Special, reduced playing rights and fee arrangements apply to 'probationary' cadet golfing members prior to their admittance to cadet golfing membership of the club on the above terms.
- The above rates exclude the following, which are levied each year:
- the applicable Golf Union levy (approx £11), which is payable by all golfing members
- any locker rental charges (currently between £5 and £25)
- a £50 advance to be applied to all members' 'swipe cards' (compulsory except for non-golfing members living more than 40 miles from the Club). Any of this amount not spent before the end of the calendar year is non-refundable.
As a private members' club, under current legislation, VAT is currently not payable on golfing subscriptions or joining fees. (VAT is payable on fees paid by social and non-playing members.)
If either subscriptions or joining fees are not paid by the member according to the schedule for payment agreed with the Club, according to the Articles of the Company and the Rules of the Club, the Board/Committee may, at their discretion and after due enquiries are made, suspend membership pending further investigation, and ultimately withdraw, membership status.
