"As an accredited PGA instructor my coaching philosophy focuses on two aspects of the swing, body movement and plane. With me it’s the dog wagging the tail scenario, if the body is not functioning properly the arms will not swing correctly, however, neither of these are effective if we do not hold the club or address the ball properly”……Chris Nunn
A brief summary of Chris's career:
In 2001, Chris left his job within HSBC, a position he’d held for 15 years, to embark on a two year self funding playing schedule on the PGA EuroPro Tour. In 2003 he was offered the opportunity to take his training with the PGA with David Wood, St Clere's Hall Golf Club, in an attempt to gain full PGA accreditation. This was achieved with honours in 2007 having been placed as the leading trainee in the East Region and 13th in the year overall receiving a scholarship from Titleist for his academic achievements. During this time Chris was fortunate to win the Assistants Championships in 2005 and qualify for the National Assistants Championships the same year.
In 2010, Chris was selected by Essex County to become their Lead Development Coach within the County Academy Programme a post he had to leave when appointed as Golf Complex Manager at Rickmansworth Golf Course, Hertfordshire. Chris returned closer to home in 2012 when appointed as Director of Golf at the Burstead Golf Club. Here he was able to further develop his skills which led to the appointment of Director of Golf at Upminster Golfclub in 2020.
Chris has worked alongside many influential people within the world of golf in order to hone his playing skills, knowledge and passion for teaching. Coaches such as Peter Mitchell (4 times winner on the European Tour, Seniors Tour Player, and coach to Brian Davis), Dennis Pugh (Sky presenter and coach to several PGA Tour players including Colin Montgomerie), and Chris Jenkins ( Essex County coach and former coach to Oliver Fisher) have all had an influence over Chris’s professional career.
