Rochford Hundred Golf Club

Rochford Hundred Golf Club has a full schedule of intra and inter-club tournaments throughout the golfing year. This comprises 24 Medal competitions, a weekly Stableford and numerous trophy competitions for men, as well as several mixed competitions and an equally active programme for our ladies section. Cadets with handicaps below 13 may also play in the Men's events.

We have a very proud tradition of participating in County Competitions. We enter teams for the Thornton Cup (winners three times) the Leslie Wood Trophy, the Essex over 55’s, plus the more recent Norman Plum Knockout Competition and Jubilee Cup. The last two Competitions are only open to mid and high handicap golfers thereby giving those in these categories an opportunity to play representative golf for the Club.

Club competition entry requires a current ‘Competition Handicap’. Those with a ‘Competition Handicap’ are eligible to enter our qualifying competitions, however until your handicap is designated ‘Competition’ you will not be eligible to win!

If you haven’t yet obtained a Competition Handicap all you need to do is play a minimum of three qualifying rounds of stroke or stableford singles golf. Qualifying rounds may be played from either Yellow or White Tees. When deciding to play a round to qualify for your handicap you should register in the Pro-shop and request a Supplementary Card. When completed return it to the score card box in the Spike Bar lobby and the Competitions Secretary will award a handicap.

We’re sure that those members joining without a handicap will find ample opportunity to achieve competition handicap status in a short space of time.

Dates of our Major Competitions and other Trophy events are published in the Club Diary, as are the dates when the entry forms are published. To enter a Major competition you must place your name on the list and return an Entry Fee to the Competition Entry Box. A strict ‘No pay – No play’ rule is applied!

The Scott Spencer Stableford Tournament is our most popular Honours Board Competition. It is run on a Wednesday or Thursday throughout the spring and summer months.

There are several groups playing social golf on most weekdays as well as weekends. These ‘roll-ups’ are a very good way to integrate the Club’s membership and new members are made most welcome.

Our Competitions and Handicaps Committee are always willing to offer help and advice in all competitive golfing matters.
